The tailed jay is a swift- flying butterfly and is often encountered flitting from flower to flower, stoping for a second or two sipping the nectar. Amongst some of its favourites are Lantana and Ixora blooms. Occasionaly, males have been observed to puddle at roadside seepages, like its relative in the genus.
